You’re Not My Husband

I can’t believe I’m watching this!

Watching my wife flirt with another man. Watching from the corner of the bar as they get closer and closer. Watching her leave with him all of it with my permission.

I can’t believe I’m following them. All the way to his house. All the way past where I thought this would go.

I can’t believe I don’t want this to stop.

Excerpt

I hesitated before typing my next response, knowing that it could change everything. Knowing that it would expose my little white lie. And however innocent a white lie was still a lie.

But I had to tell her.

I’m watching right now.

Her eyes came up from her phone, her head swiveling around to take in the full bar until they landed on me. And I just inclined my drink to her and reclined in my chair as I watched her companion walking back over towards her.

She tucked her phone away and I could tell she was shaken. I could tell she didn’t know exactly how to deal with the revelation that her husband was watching her from the corner while she flirted with another man.

But her companion was charming and handsome, and he was skilled in the ways of women. Before long he had all of her attention once more.

And their flirting was different now, her body language opening up to meet his. And they touched now, light little gestures. His hand on her thigh. Her hand on his forearm. Both of them getting closer to one another.

Until he turned to settle up with the bar and she pulled her phone out to quickly type out a message.

I’m going with him.

I know. I’ll follow.
